The Brantwood Camp program encourages a sense of community, nurtured by activities that include athletic competition, recognition of cabin spirit, team problem-solving activities, ropes course challenges, hiking, gathering for nightly campfires, and camping overnight on our very own nearby lakefront at Silver Lake. A Prize Night on the last night of each session rewards the hard work and accomplishments of campers, cabins and counselors. Brantwood's tradition of friendly competition between the cabins is always positive and reflects a combination of efforts in Athletics, Spirit, Inspections, and Outdoor Challenges.

B-Jersey Competition

Throughout each session at Brantwood, cabin groups of campers are striving to work together as a team to earn as many points as possible in the four main areas of Camp; Athletics, Spirit, Inspection and Challenges. Points are awarded at the end of each activity and tallied on a daily basis. On the final evening of their session at Brantwood, campers enjoy a banquet dinner and a Prize Night where Brantwood Ribbons and are awarded to the cabins who earned the most points in each of the Athletics, Inspection, and Spirit. Campers who complete their Outdoor Challenges earn themselves a Brantwood Hat. The highlight of the evening is the awarding of the Brantwood B-Jerseys to the Junior and Senior cabins who earned the highest number of points in all areas of Camp combined.

Athletics

Teamwork and Good Sportsmanship are emphasized in daily athletics, which include soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, kickball, swimming, ultimate Frisbee, football and more. Each athletic game is an opportunity to earn points towards the B-Jerseys either by winning the game or by demonstrating team Spirit.

Swimming

Each campus has a pool where campers swim twice daily on most days. The pools areas are locked when not in use and are staffed by certified lifeguards any time swimming is scheduled. Year after year campers rate swimming in the pool as one of their favorite activities at Camp.

Ropes Course and Initiatives

The ropes course events and cabin initiatives inspire each camper to succeed both as a member of a group and as an individual. Our certified ropes-course staff carefully selects and provides opportunities as deemed appropriate for each cabin and individual camper.

Outdoor Challenges

The Brantwood Challenges provide opportunities for success, learning and fun. Each camper is given a chance to learn a variety of outdoor skills including campcraft, compass use, first aid, water safety, and facts on nature and astronomy. Campers who complete their Outdoor Challenges earn a Brantwood Hat on Prize Night and contribute points towards the B-Jersey Competition for their cabin.

Daily Cabin Inspection

Daily Inspections of each cabin ensure that the campers are maintaining their living quarters in a clean and orderly manner. Inspection also gives the cabins the opportunity to earn points toward the B-Jersey Competition. Winners of the daily Inspection are announced at each lunch.

Spirit

An emphasis on cheerfulness and good sportsmanship encourages campers to be supportive of their peers in daily activities. Each cabin strives to win daily Spirit Points as they work hard to collect points towards the B-Jerseys.
